IN FRUIT
There are some different things happening in the fruit section of your Harris Farm Markets this week. First we are fazing out our old season Hass (black skin) avocados and replacing them with the new season Shepard (green skin) avocados. These will improve In flavour every week and have a fresh new season taste about them. This week is one of those rare weeks that happen a couple of times each year that passionfruit gets quite cheap. We now sell them in nets of 10 at bargain basement prices and they really fly out the door. The perfect additive to the school lunchbox, healthy, tasty different and inexpensive as well. Apples, grapes and pears all continue to sell well however stone fruit in general has really slowed up. There are some very good sweet eating late season rockmelons starting up that should bring prices back quite substantially
IN VEGETABLE
As we move more into our Autumn season the mix of products continues to change. Even though it is still rather warm we are seeing our vegie lines move on from a focus on salad items to the type of vegies we associate more with cooler weather. So Corn, Kumera, Onions, Celery, Caulies and Broccoli are all more plentiful and cheaper than they have been in previous weeks whilst cucumbers, beetroot and truss tomatoes are all a little dearer. A great additive to many of the meals we prepare at home are French Eschallots. Over the next week or so we will start our local Tasmanian season and this new season Australian product will keep in excellent condition for a few months. Look for a special on these and stock up for winter.
