Dave's Market Update 07.04.15

IN FRUIT

With fruit, avocados are now easing in price as more orchards come on line with their new season Shepard avocados. Other fruits to ease this week will be lemons (as the Easter seafood demand eases up), Raspberries (as the Autumn flush continues), and all varieties of pears. I love the Buerre Bosc variety as a change from the Williams that have been the main pear to date. A product you may not be familiar with are Kanzi apples. Everyone who tastes them tells me they love them , so we are going to put them in our stores at a lower price this week . They are quite a large apple ,very dense and with a really crisp texture and flavour . Still ample grapes around and the Aussie pomegranates just get better and better.

IN VEGETABLE

Short trading weeks and public holidays both disrupt the picking and transport of fruit and veg, so what appears to be the case early in the week may change as the week goes on. So I will be brief in my summary this week, back to normal next week. In vegies this week hard produce is still very well supplied with brushed potatoes and all onions easing in price . There are also some good options in vegies for cooler nights happening. Spinach, beans and broccoli will all be cheaper than last week.
