Dave's Market Update 15.09.15

IN FRUIT

Not a lot has changed since last week. However, we are seeing a nice flush of tropical fruit this week and our extra large topless pines are eating superbly. Add the flavoursome papaya that is in store plus fabulous blueberries and you have a really healthy and tasty breakfast for not a lot of money. I would also like to recommend our prepacked kiwi gold offering. These are a little smaller than the market demands and as a result we have a genuine bargain to pass on to you our customers, enjoy.

IN VEGETABLE

Lots more product becoming available as near perfect weather is the order of the day up and down the country. In particular, it is vegetable supplies that are the most affected. Lots of options in vegetables with the local bunch lines leading the charge. So kale, Chinese vegetables, rhubarb, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli all represent fantastic value this week. Also falling in price are eggplant, snow peas, honey snap peas and in particular green beans which are fantastic quality and now very inexpensive also. Warm days and cool nights are the best combination of circumstances for our vegetable crops, enjoy the taste and quality, this is Aussie veg at its best. Asparagus will get even cheaper and better than we have enjoyed for the last three weeks. A less well known vegetable that is becoming very popular is the globe artichoke - it is available this week at a very attractive price. Click on "See What's Fresh" for simple cooking instructions for this very Mediterranean of vegetables.
