IN FRUIT

Highlights in fruit include kiwi fruit, blueberries and topless pines.Topless pineapples are in good supply from Wamuran in south east Queensland. These topless pines contain low levels of acidity making the fruit really refreshing, sweet and juicy. Excellent value this week topless pineapples are my must try for this week shopping list. Blueberries from the north coast of NSW continue to be amazing eating and the pick of the berry range.

IN VEGETABLE

With September temperatures on the rise it is most definitely smorgasbord for shoppers with many fruit and veg lines in abundance. Capsicums, eggplant, snow peas, beans, zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, lettuce are all really good value. Asparagus and broad beans are both in the peak of their respective seasons with price and quality both being fantastic. The broad bean season is relatively short so be sure the make them a must for the shopping list. Gourmet tomato prices continue to slide as volumes are on the march. The highlight for the tomato category this week are punnets of cocktail tomatoes. They are a good size and flavoursome, perfect for salads or snacking and great value this week.

Once again a big thank you for your continued support of the imperfect picks range. The support has been awesome with many farmers associated with Harris Farm buoyed by the enthusiasm being shown by the public to the cause. This week in the Imperfect picks range we are highlighting potatoes and Oranges. The potatoes are from South Australia and have experienced some heat stress which has caused some malformation making for odd shapes potatoes. The potatoes are still perfectly fine and most importantly great eating. The oranges from the Riverina are feeling the effects of a windy winter with some wind blemish issues- The fruit is perfectly juicy and sweet.
