IN FRUIT
Blueberries are tremendous value and the fruit is in its prime in terms of eating quality. Strawberries are still available in good numbers and the new season mulberries are starting to gain some momentum. The only imperfections are some wind rub markings on the fruit its perfectly good and great value in strong tomato market. Our pudgy packham pears are also fantastic value this week they're a little out of shape but who isn't? This fruit, from Shepparton in Victoria, is perfectly delicious and sweet to eat.
IN VEGETABLE
This week is all about home grown Sydney Basin produce. Over the past weeks, many of these vegetable lines have been flourishing in what has been perfect growing conditions. Spinach, English spinach, kale, snow peas, sugar snaps, beetroot, lettuce, cos lettuce, rhubarb, Lebanese cucumbers and green zucchini are the highlights of some wonderful locally grown produce. Sweet corn from Queensland and asparagus are also in abundance this week and would compliment any grand final BBQ celebration no matter who wins! Eggplant, capsicums, beans, cauliflower, broad beans and broccoli continue to be in good supply and are excellent quality. Button mushrooms and Swiss brown mushroom are also very good this week and are at very reasonable prices. Egg tomatoes from Bowen in North Queensland are one of our imperfect pick highlights.
