Dave's Market Update 03.03.15

IN FRUIT

Another week of fabulous fruit this week at Harris Farm. Williams pears are now at their best and prices have dropped, the fruit is ripening and eating perfectly. Amber Jewel plums are my other pick of the week. They are in my view the best plum in our shops this week. Other good buys this week include all grapes, all peaches and seedless watermelon. This week the white nectarines are at their best. For berries you cannot go past Tasmania blueberries. It is late for mainland blues now and they can be hit or miss – look for Tasmanian fruit. Rockmelons are still fantastic to eat – and fantastic value – but not quite as big as last week’s fruit.

IN VEGETABLE

We have a fantastic offer of speciality tomatoes in all our stores this week. Every store has on offer either cherry tomatoes or cherry tomatoes grown locally in the Sydney basin. Picked fresh every day they are in our stores and on sale within 24 hours of harvest. This has been the perfect weather for them and they are eating superbly. Vegies have continues to be pummelled by the weather down south but as always there are some bargains. Lebanese cues, corn and iceberg lettuce all are very good value. Finally don’t forget Valentines day this Friday, we have a great selection of mixed arrangements – everything in roses from a single stem in a tube to generous bunches.
