IN FRUIT
Late may and into winter is a great time of the year for citrus. It would seem that a light frost on the Navel oranges gives them real flavour, and our navels now are starting to come from southern regions with Queensland fruit coming to an end. The mandarins are still sweet and juicy, and there are plenty of lemons and grapefruit too. Apples are fresh and crunchy, the darker grapes good to eat and pomegranates are everywhere. A product that seems to be getting more and more popular is the sweet red papaya. There are many different varieties available, almost as many as there are apples. One that I am finding very good to eat has a sticker on the fruit identifying it as Skybury papaya. In only selected stores at the moment, it will soon be across all our stores as we sort out some logistic issues with this new line. This is a really exciting product and definitely worth the premium that we must charge for this item.

IN VEGETABLE
Very little change in vegetables this week. leeks and fennel are the standouts for great value as these two traditional vegetables commence their season. Increased harvests and unbelievably mild weather means cheaper prices for our customers. Additionally, kale, loose beetroot, cauliflowers and eggplant all remain very good value.
