Dave's Market Update - 03.05.16

Dave's Market Update May 3rd

IN FRUIT
The standout here has to be the Imperial mandarins – I don’t think they can get any better than this week. Very reasonably priced and terrific eating means are an absolute must for this week’s shopping list.

Standout in apples this week is pink ladies. The pink lady crop is looking to be a decent size with strong volumes of freshly harvested fruit arriving into the market. Currently we are procuring fruit from the Orange and Shepparton regions.

In avocados, there is some new season Hass on the market at the moment, but for me they are not quite right yet – so were sticking with Shepard avocados this week. The Shepard avocado, or green skins as they are often referred to are eating amazingly. In fact I reckon they are eating as good as they get.

There is still a good supply of Fuyu fruit is in the markets, they are eating excellently and are of fantastic value this week. Fuyu fruit makes a refreshing change for those shoppers looking for something a little different.

IN VEGETABLE
Along with green beans, other vegetable lines that are well supplied include broccoli, English spinach, beetroot, corn, zucchini, Lebanese cucumbers and telegraph cucumbers, with broccoli and Lebanese cucumbers showing stand out value.
